Future Released ‘The Real Me’ Album. Here’s How it’s Performing One Week Later

Future released ‘The Real Me’ album on Friday, July 10. The album has 22 songs, with zero features.

A small fan debate over whether features were needed sparked some conversations that led us to do a more thorough analysis of the album’s progress one week after its release. We generally run analytics for our clients.

It is currently #1 on Apple Music and is expected to debut at #1 on Billboard, with an expectation of selling about 131,000-135,000 album-equivalent units.

Digging deeper into the analytics, out of the 22 songs, only 2 are showing as most popular on Apple Music, “One Two” and “Radio”.  For an album by an artist of this caliber, the usual is 4-5 most popular songs after one week.

There are 2 currently charting in the top 10:  “Konnichiwa” (#6) and “California Girls” (#7), which shows that those songs are gaining most recent momentum, and may eventually also become listed as most popular for the album.

Looking on other social media platforms, the trends are very different. On Instagram, “Kinnichiwa” and “2018” are leading, with 3k and 4.6k posts, respectively, and on TikTok, “Weight Up” is the heavy favorite, used on over 14.7k videos.

Although the album is not #1 or #2 on iTunes, it still is in the top 5, coming in right at #5 one week after it’s release.

In summary, features were definitely not needed, but they could have helped steer the album’s cohesity as far as what songs are clearly most popular across the board. Combining artist fan favorites is never bad and generally helps overall. As a very well-established and seasoned artist, Future chose to go the solo route.

‘The Real Me’ will be Future’s 12th consecutive album to debut at #1 on Billboard. That’s major.

Congratulations Pluto.
