R. Kelly Rushed to Hospital After Overdose of Medication. Lawyers Filed Emergency Motion for His Release

R&B singer/songwriter and producer, R. Kelly, who is serving a 30-year prison sentence for racketeering and s*x trafficking, was recently rushed to the hospital after receiving an overdose of medication by prison staff, according to his legal team.

This was just 2 days after his lawyers filed an emergency motion for him to be released to home confinement to serve the remainder of his sentence, because he alleges that there is a m*rder plot against him by prison officials. He is also seeking a presidential pardon.

The motion was filed on June 10th, which is when he was placed in solitary confinement at the prison, out of what the prosecution referred to as the prison’s concern for his “safety”. He reportedly stopped eating while there, with fears of being poisoned.

Although he already had his regular anxiety medication with him, his lawyer alleges that additional medication was administered to him on June 12th, which he took. He reportedly began to experience dizziness and vision issues,  seeing black spots, the morning of June 13th, prior to “losing consciousness”.

He was then rushed to the hospital, evaluated by a doctor, who advised that he had been given a “life threatening” overdose of medication, and that surgery was needed to remove blood clots in his legs.

However, instead of allowing him to have the surgery, prison officials denied the surgery, and took him back to the prison, where he is currently being held in solitary confinement again.

His hearing is scheduled for Friday, June 20th.
