Kodak Black Received Community Key at Texas Flood Victims Benefit Concert. It is Being Called the “Key to the City” of San Antonio [Video]

Pompano Beach, FL native, multi-platinum selling rapper, Kodak Black, recently received the key to the city of San Antonio, TX, while headlining a fundraising concert for Kerr County flood victims.

The event, “Summer Nights at The Rim”, presented by Power Gate Entertainment, along with Sniper G, KTB, and Lil Jay, was held August 1, 2025, at an outdoor venue formerly called The Rustic. Other notable performers included San Antonio singer/rapper AJ Hernz, San Antonio pop star Austin Mahone, Pop singer Paula Deanda, Melii, and San Antonio Hip Hop legend/Anti-Bully Gang founder, King Kyle Lee.

Some social media users have been very critical of the key being awarded to Kodak Black, partly from his widely-known history of drug use, and also because huge San Antonio community advocate and founder of the non-profit Anti-Bully Gang, King Kyle Lee, also performed and did not receive a key. However, King Kyle Lee was recently recognized earlier this summer on May 29th in Austin, TX.

It is fair to note that It was not an official key that was awarded to him by city officials, however it still holds great significance in that it was presented as a Community Key by a reputable organization from the city, Icon Talks, and prominent promoter/booking agent, Lil Jay.

Despite the award itself having text that reads, Community Key of the State of Texas, it was verbally referred to as “The Key to the City!” on microphone at the event, without any objections or corrections by the presenters. So, as far as the event’s audience, Kodak Black fans and critics are concerned, it is the key to San Antonio.

Congratulations to Kodak. He also holds keys to the cities of North Miami and his hometown, Pompano Beach.

Although it has not received mainstream media attention, the news was shared on several Texas’ and Florida social media user pages. One of the San Antonio Instagram posts was shared by Kodak to his story.
