Ye (Kanye West) has officially apologized to the Jewish community for his past antisemitic remarks.
Although he has been quiet on social media, he has been busy behind-the-scenes. He recently met with Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, leader of the Shuva Israel Institutions, on Tuesday, November 4th, to express his regrets in making comments against the Jewish community.
His harsh remarks against the Jewish community had been done primarily via social media rants, which started in October 2022. They had stirred up social media, with many in an uproar, and resulted in him losing key brand deals and sponsorships.
He explained that his bipolar disorder played a part in his actions:
“I was dealing with some various issues. Uh, dealing with bipolar also. So it would take the ideas I had and have them taken to the extreme where I would forget about the protection of the people around me and myself.”
“So I wanted to come take accountability. Sometimes people are not that knowledgeable about the bipolar and the cause, or what causes it, and the way you act when you have this disease.”
“I really just appreciate you embracing me with open arms and allowing me to make a mends…”
At the end of their meeting, Rabbi Pinto hugged him and told Kanye that he was a “very good man”.
It is worthy to note that in February of this year, Kanye had stated that he had been misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder and was later correctly diagnosed with having autism. There has not been a formal update from him on his current diagnosis.
