J. Cole’s Manager Squashes Rumors of Selling Dreamville

Rumors had been flying recently that J. Cole had sold Dreamville, but that is not true. J. Cole did not sell it, but did end Dreamville’s partnership with UMG. The rumors has stemmed from Bas’ comments of ending the partnership during an interview on “Elliott Wilson Experience” and JID’s comment on his interview on the Joe Budden Podcast where he said, “Dreamville’s sold Dreamville, ..and looked out for everybody that was a part of Dreamville”.

His manager and label co-founder, Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad. recently took to X (Twitter) to clarify:

“For those that misunderstood, we did not sell Dreamville lol. Never will, never would. We ended our Dreamville partnership with umg and some blessings came with that and When blessings come your way it’s only right to share those blessings with the family. Just some clarity 🫡.”

Many associate the term “Dreamville” with J. Cole’s popular annual music festival, however, it is also the name of his record label, which was founded in 2007.

Speaking of J. Cole, his hit singles, “No Role Modelz” and “Middle Child” are on our “i Love Hip Hop” playlist on HomeBase Radio Spotify 💯🔥. “Wet Dreamz” is on Storytelling Rap, and “Power Trip” ft Miguel is on “Hip Hop n Sing” playlist.

He has a Dreamville Yearbook currently on pre-order that spans the six years of his Dreamville Fest. 2025 was the last year it was held in Raleigh. The book is $125 and will ship in Fall 2025.
