Top Dawg Entertainment artist, Ray Vaughn, disses Joey Badass in his new “Crashout Heritage” freestyle, where he raps over Kendrick’s “heart pt. 6” beat from ‘GNX’ album. The freestyle was dropped on TDE’s YouTube channel on January 8th, 2025.
Fans speculated whether Joey Bada$$’ “The Ruler’s Back” freestyle was truly a diss to Kendrick Lamar, but it appears that TDE definitely took it as one with Ray’s use of Kendrick’s beat, and as one to West Coast rap based on Joey’s “too much West Coast d*ck licking” line, as Ray takes direct aim at Joey in this verse:
“What’s with the sneak dissing?
Taking shots at us then hide the Uzi
‘Cause the only badass the world was recognizing is Boosie
Please don’t get confused with shooting them movies with really sh**ting”
He posted a tweet on X, with a clip from his freestyle video, tagging Joey in it that read:
“2025 no sneak dissin, only crashouts.
@joeyBADASS”
He has taunted Joey as he awaits a response, saying to fans egging on the beef,
“Y’all chill he prolly shootin POWER or sum he ain’t see his phone give him some time (crying laugh emoji)”
Ray did not stop with Joey, however. He also called out Tory Lanez for featuring on DDG’s “Handling Business” track:
“And Tory you should be ashamed of yourself
‘Cause DDG needed to sell
You did a verse in a cell
Fo’ you went to jail, in the booth
Me and you was Keenan and Kel
Stranger things happen on the mic
When n****s beef over el’s”
“El” can mean “the” or “he” in Spanish, depending on the spelling and context. In this context we think he is definitely using it as the Spanish word for “he” (él), to mean rappers beefing over other male rappers.
Still in reference to Tory, he continues with:
“Don’t think you shot her
I was praying for your freedom as well”
Referring to him not believing that Tory that Megan Thee Stallion in the foot, for which Tory was found guilty in the case and is currently serving time for.
