The T-Rell & Ray J Music Review Podcast is a humorously entertaining new livestream podcast show hosted by the two R&B singers, that features them listening to music by independent artists and offering their opinion.
The show, which originally started as a Facebook livestream with just T-Rell, that he has been hosting for years, has transitioned into a joint venture with Ray J as his co-host, to form a podcast. This came shortly after Ray J’s sign off on allowing T-Rell to sample his hit single, “One Wish”, in his latest single, “If I Only Had (One Wish)”. The show has been an instant success since its unofficial launch on January 2nd, 2025, with a steadily growing audience.
The podcast has already received the attention of major label A&R from labels such as Atlantic Records and other industry professionals and entities, including Texas-based promotional consulting company, HomeBase Promotions, whose curators have been actively placing songs on HomeBase Radio Apple Music and Spotify playlists during the show. It has also even scored a couple of artists an immediate free feature offer by T-Rell himself.
On Saturday, 1/4, the show came to an abrupt end after a man pulled out a g_n on his girlfriend after an argument in the same studio that T-Rell and Ray J were in. The couple had been in the other room and their argument escalated after her boyfriend hit her, but security quickly handled the issue and no one was physically harmed. However, T-Rell no longer felt safe at that point and the show ended.
It had already been a rough day for T-Rell, as right before the show he had learned that his Godfather had passed away. He had asked for prayers from his fans, and described the incident as feeling like he was on a “reality tv show”. He later posted a snippet of what happened in the parking garage after the incident occurred, with Ray J trying to calm him down.
Their music review show resumed on Sunday, 1/5 on T-Rell’s Facebook page. The unanticipated duo surprisingly make a great team, as T-Rell tends to mostly favor music with a southern R&B flavor and rap songs that have seductively explicit lyrics, while Ray J tends to prefer a very unpredictable variety of songs. Although the two hardly ever agree on whether a song is a “hit”, and the show has a hilariously humorous element, as Ray J’s random remarks take on a comedic tone, the two hitmakers provide valuable feedback to the artists to help them improve on their crafts.
T-Rell will be joining Ray J on the Millennium Tour, which will also feature familiar household name artists such as Trey Songz, Omarion, Bow Wow, Plies, Boosie, Ying Yang Twins, Ray J’s group RSVP (consisting of Ray J, Sammie, Bobby V, and Pleasure P), Nivea, and Rick Ross.
To watch the podcast, follow T-Rell on Facebook and Instagram. He goes live from Facebook for the reviews more often than on Instagram, and Ray J occasionally gone live from his instagram to help promote the show as well.
As the show gets acclimated to a more regular schedule and attract more sponsors, expect them to go live from even more platforms.
We wish the two the best of success on their show. It has received well over 425,000 views in total as of the writing of this article.
HomeBase Radio has checked out the show on the livestream as well. Be sure to say what’s up to us whenever you see us tune in!
