SZA Says She Wants to Do Children’s Music to Fulfill Her Last 2 Album Requirements

Despite the massive success she has had in recent years for her 2022 ‘SOS’ album and 2024 ‘Lana’ album, SZA still appears to be thinking of life away from contemporary music.

On the morning of January 4th, 2025, she posted to her X (aka Twitter) account:

“To fulfill my last 2 album requirements I think I just wanna make peaceful children’s music n get outta here . Then go be a farmer and donate the produce to underserved communities.”

This is not the first time she has expressed her interest in moving away from contemporary music, as she has mentioned or eluded to quitting before in past interviews from 2016, 2018, and 2022, for various different reasons. In August 2024, she tweeted that she was taking a break from performing to focus on her mental health. She is currently signed with Top Dawg Entertainment, which is under RCA.

Fans think that she may do some children’s music for Sesame Street, since she was on an episode of the show in 2024. She also recently shared a post by the popular “Grover” Sesame Street character to her story on Instagram, which may also be a subtle hint.

SZA also shared a new green swirled ‘Lana’ album cover on X, which shows her posing in seductive leafy green attire on the cover. She gave props to the vinyl album designer, @dylanpdesign, who she is following on X. The new vinyl design is not available on her official website at the time of this article, but the original bright green vinyl version is available.

Regardless of what SZA decides to do, we will support her decision.

She is co-headlining the Grand National Tour with Kendrick Lamar, which begins April 19th in Minneapolis, MN. SZA is also celebrating being the first black female artist to have multiple songs surpass 2 billion streams each on Spotify: “K*ll Bill” (2.2 billion) and “Snooze” (1.3 billion).

She is featured across HomeBase Radio playlists on Apple Music and Spotify.
